Chestnut Lounge

The Chestnut Tree

Mine Host: Dave & Wendy Kilkoyne

Called the 'Chestnut Tree' due to a very large chestnut tree to the rear of the premises, it rains blossom in the early part of the year & chestnuts in the latter part.

Part of a well known run of ale houses and popular for walkabout as there are five public houses within a very short distance of each other, four in Craven Street alone.

You can start from the top of Craven Street or the bottom, the starting point is your choice. The bottom is the closest point to the 'Butts Arena', but also uphill, you may prefer to start at the top and work your way back down to the arena.

If starting from the' Butts Arena' then the Chestnut would be your last visit (unless of course you are very ambitious and visiting all 16 public houses), in which case good luck and possibly good by Sunday.

The largest of the pubs in this particular area, is consists of two rooms (Bar & Lounge). TV's in bar (recently refurbed) for all sports events and there is also a poole table and dart board.

The lounge is presently being refurbed but is at the moment only open for World Cup Rugby and other sporting events.

There is a garden area to the rear of the pub and a car park which comes out onto Hearsall Lane. There is also a small seated area to the front on Craven Street.
